Greetings Friends

Welcome back to school clipart
Welcome to my class!
I'm so glad you found your way to my blog and so excited for the 2019-2020 school year! We have many fun things planned, and I am thrilled you will be in my classroom this year. The first day of school is August 17th, and I look forward to seeing you at 8:05AM in room 101.
This page will be a helpful tool to keep all of my students up to date on assignments, due dates, content, and class events. If you ever need me for more details and or questions, please contact me via grschmuc@kent.edu or contact the school by phone at (555)555-5555.
In this classroom...
You are cared about. I value your ideas, thoughts, and your actions. You have unique talents and strengths and I can't wait for you to share them with your classmates. You will bring so much to our classroom and I can't wait to learn more about you.

Have you ever had a time where you couldn't find the words to ask for help or advice? How did that make you feel inside?

On my desk will be a box with small sheets of paper and small pencils in front of it. If there is ever a time when you are having a bad day, or need help with something but you can't find the words to say, please write them down, add your name, and put them in the box. I will be the only one reading them, and I will never share your thoughts with the class.

First Week of Fun

Our first week of school will be full of fun and facts! I will be introducing our learning centers which include:

Reading: We will be starting on our reading workshop and talking about picking "just right" books. Here is a link that will put you on the right path on reading!  Books that are inspiring!

Math: We will review what we last learned in the past year; place value- writing numbers in standard word and expanded form.

Language: We will be starting to learn and discuss our writing workshop for the fall.

Social Studies: We will break off into groups and become the citizens of the United States during the Revolutionary War and write about our lives during that time in our past.

As we learn all about this important time in our country's history, and learn about the people who impacted the war, I would like you to ponder if Benedict Arnold was really a bad person during this War of Independence, ponder as if you were a British citizen. We will have a fun discussion in class with your answers.

If you click on this website, it is a fun site that will break down the history of  American Revolution in a fun and factual way.

Science: We will start to learn about the scientific method and our science time rules. Below is a fun song about what we are about to learn! Enjoy :)
